Launched in 1868 and commissioned in 1869, she was designed for coastal defense during a period when European navies were adopting armored steam warships. The vessel carried two heavy guns in a rotating turret and had thick iron armor, making her powerful despite her small size. Together with her sister ship \u003cspan class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"\u003e\u003cspan class=\"whitespace-normal\"\u003eHNLMS Buffel\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e, Schorpioen helped protect Dutch ports and waterways. After many decades of service in secondary roles, she was preserved and today survives as a historic museum ship.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe ship model is 87mm long and is very exquisite. Although 3D printed parts can be further hardened by placing them under the sun, undesired deformation may appear after this process.
